Mary G. Boll

Mary G. Boll, 89, passed away at 12:20 p.m. at the Four Seasons Health Care Center. She was born on January 20, 1922 in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Ellis and Sarah Lortz. Mary grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School. She later attended Western University, which is now Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Mary married Charles Raymond Boll, Jr. on November 6, 1943 in a simple military service at the Harvard Chapel in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus and was very active in many community activities, including volunteer work with Head Start, the Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Culture Club, Tri Kappa and several bridge clubs. Mary enjoyed travelling with her husband and family and loved to entertain her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Gilbert Lortz and Prudence Lortz Steinbarger. She is survived by her husband, Charles Raymond Boll, Jr., retired Cummins executive and former member of the Board of Directors; children, Charles “Chuck” (Cathy) Raymond Boll III and Cynthia Ann Boll; granddaughter Mary Catherine “Casey” Boll of Chicago; and a niece, Julie (Charles) Crider of Cincinnati. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Chapel with the Reverend Phyllis Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m until service time at the Four Seasons Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Garland Brook Mausoleum. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the health care professionals and caregivers involved in Mary’s care.
