Thomas A. Yates

Thomas Anthony Yates, 72, of Henrico County, passed away on October 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Emma Yates, and is survived by his wife, Diane, son, Michael (Melissa), daughters, Amy and Emily, and grandchildren, Nathan, Emma, and Sydney. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Joe), and brother, Jimmy (Helen), and a host of beloved extended family. A firefighter with Henrico County Fire for 27 years, a US Army veteran, a devoted member of St. John's Catholic Church, Tommy loved music, theater, singing, fishing, muscle cars, golf, and spending time with his family. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor will be missed. He never knew a stranger. Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue on Sunday, October 28th from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church, 813 W. Nine Mile Road, on Monday, October 29th at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Catholic Church.
