DAVIS, Shirley Ann Gilham, 87, of Sandston, Virginia, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 11, 2019. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Edwin "Jeff" Gilham; her mother, Ethel Throckmorton Gilham; and her sister, Phyllis G. Alvis. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Robert E. Davis Jr. She is also survived by her two children, Gordon A. Groome Jr. (Penny), Deborah G. Pennell (Johnnie); three grandchildren, Jennifer P. Witherspoon (Wayne), G. Jeffrey Groome (Rita), Micah B. Groome (Kristie); four great-grandchildren, Ethan, McKayla, Christian and Justin. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for the heartfelt love she had for her family and friends, her contagious laughter and kind, gentle spirit. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 15, 2019, at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Private interment in Washington Memorial Park.
