Branch Wallace Proffitt Jr., 87, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife Doris Purcell Proffitt, and Brothers Herbert, James, George, and Henry Proffitt. Branch was a life time resident of Richmond Virginia. Branch was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, a WWII Army Veteran who received 2 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, a Presidential Citation and Good Conduct certificate. After honorably serving his country Branch worked for Colonial Stores as a Manager and retired. He enjoyed wood work, loved God, family and country. He will always be remembered as a caring person who loved everyone. He was very proud of his military record and his accomplishments during WWII. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Louis Proffitt. Two sons Thomas (Pam) and James Proffitt; three grandchildren Rebecca Manick, Thomas and PFC Daniel Proffitt; three great-grandchildren Madelyn, Aubrey and Emmy Mancik; two sisters, Evelyn Purcell and Helen Ayres and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation will take place Monday, April 21st, 5-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home. 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond VA., 23231. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22nd at Harvest Baptist Church, 5561 Meadow Rd. Sandston, VA 23150. Interment will be at Amelia Veterans Cemetery.
