Patricia Jean Pickens, age 77, of Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family
She was born on August 13, 1946, In Washington DC, daughter of the late Thomas Burke and Esther Seitz (Burke). She grew up in Greenbelt, Maryland. She met the love of her life of 55 years Arnold (Slim) Pickens at Fort Meade, Maryland. Where she followed him in his US Army career and started a family. In her free time, she loved crocheting, horseback riding, drawing, and cooking and spending time with her family, two dogs and her horses. She also loved RV’ing with her friends from the SO WE GO Sams.
Her parents Thomas Burke and Esther Seitz (Burke) preceded Patricia in death.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Arnold (Slim) Pickens; daughters, Pauline Wright (Richard), Elizabeth Sutherland (Jeffrey), Carole Bickel; son, Thomas Pickens; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation for Patricia will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401 with a burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patricia's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org; and Mary Washington Hospice, https://www.marywashingtonhealthcare.com.
