History

Our current building opened in the 1970s, under the name Elkins Funeral Home. The Elkins moved into the location from their Main Street location, where they were located since 1927.

Wheeler and Thompson Funeral Home once stood downtown on Princess Anne Street, where the Fredericksburg Circuit Court sits today. In the 1980s, Wheeler and Thompson merged with Mullins Funeral Home, which at the time was in the old Elkins building, to form what we know today as Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service.

Today, we have funeral home locations in cities throughout Virginia and carry on a tradition of compassionate care.
