Nécrologie de Anthony Garnett Childress
Anthony “Tony Buck” Garnett Childress, 61 of Stafford, passed away at his residence on Friday, September 22, 2023. Tony was one of a kind; could always make you laugh with his jokes, and had many lifelong friends. He attended James Monroe High School. He loved duckpin bowling and roller skating. He was a former pipe layer for Kelvic Construction in his prime. In his younger days he worked with his grandfather A.G. in the seafood shop which is now run by one of his best friends Billy Cox, who was like a brother to him. He worked weekends at Cockeye Cox’s Crabs with Billy and his son Caleb. He was an excellent crab and seafood cook, you couldn't find better steamed shrimp. He loved animals, especially birds. He owned many chickens, roosters, pigeons, ducks, even a peacock. He even had his daughter Carley’s favorite chicken named Nugget stuffed for her when he passed away. At one point he had over 200 birds. He would even incubate the eggs he collected sometimes. When he was in 9th grade he had a pet crow that would bring him shiny items, follow him around the neighborhood, and bother his mother by unclipping the clothes pins on the clothesline. He was a diehard Redskins fan. He loved hunting and fishing, he has the best collection of poles and lures; anything you could ever want or need. He loved making his own lures with his son Caleb. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his time sitting under the trees listening to music or tending to his gardens. He loved growing tomatoes, squash, and hot peppers. He loved going to Family Pizzeria before it sadly shut and he loved Mike’s Hot Wings. He tried to have many of his friends sign the waiver and do the Hot Wing challenge. He had many faithful dogs in his life, but Bubbles was his favorite girl. They would ride around and eat McDonalds Cheeseburgers; he took her everywhere and they are reunited again. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He is survived by two children, Carley Childress and Caleb Childress, mother Sharon Krieger, and former sister-in-law Tabitha Broyles. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Michelle; sister, Lisa Marie Childress; father, Otis Garnett Childress; and step father, Clarence Krieger. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel from 6-8 pm. Interment will be private. Please come as you are; It's what he would've wanted. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Friends of the Rappahannock. Donations can be made at Friends of the Rappahannock (riverfriends.org). Online condolences may be sent at www.mullinsthompsonfredericksburg.com As Tony would say “Keep it Jam Tight and Jelly Right.”
