Herman Walter Hammer was born on August 25, 1937. He went home to be with Jesus on September 20, 2023. Herman was a charter member of Faith Bible Missionary Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Serving Jesus was what he longed to do and, especially over the past year, he had a deep passion for revival. Herman was a member of the Three Rivers Woodworking Club. After retiring from Hammer Masonry Construction, woodworking was a hobby he enjoyed, along with hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, and spending time with family, neighbors, and friends. Herman will be truly missed by Linda Hammer, his wife of 63 years, his son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Julie Hammer, and his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Charlie Williams. He will also be missed by grandchildren, Misty (granddaughter) and Doug Williams, Dustin (grandson) and Tiffani Hammer, Samuel Williams (grandson), Amanda (granddaughter) and Ross Kline, and four great grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are brothers, Robert Hammer, Guy Hammer, sisters Ruth (Roger) Manns, and Mary (Jim Stump). Herman was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hammer, and his mother Dora Hammer. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
