Russell Hugh Chandler, 66, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents, Anita and Russell Chandler.
Russell served with the US Army for three years as a communications operator while stationed in Germany. He later retired from the College of William and Mary after 30 years as utilities mechanic. In his spare time Russell enjoyed astronomy and viewing the skies through his telescope, operating his Ham radio, cooking, history, and traveling, especially to the beach. He loved all animals, especially his cats Ruby and Bobbi Jo, and could often be found feeding the birds or volunteering at Heritage Humane Society.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Deborah Bruner Chandler; son, Nathan Chandler (Amanda); step-sons, Sean Mocello, and Brian Mocello (Jennifer); daughter, Deanna Boscia (Tom); sisters, Debbie and Carol; and ten grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg on Saturday, December 16, 2017, with a service to follow at 4:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Richmond.
