Bertha Hollins Henderson, 90, of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was born in Amherst County on September 18, 1927, a daughter of the late Grover and Mary Victoria (Woods) Jarvis.
Bertha worked as a nursing assistant at the Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henderson and a sister, Mildred Ray.
Survivors include her daughters, Sylvia Jean Swanson and husband, Russell of Waynesboro, Mary “Anne” Sarbin and husband, Rich of Waynesboro and Pamela Jo Dovel of West Virginia; grandchildren, Amy Swanson, Katie Kapp, Jay Dovel, Victoria Sarbin and Brian Sarbin; great grandchild, Marley Dovel; brothers, James, David, Shirley, Thomas, William and Robert Jarvis all of Charlottesville; sister, Ella Berry of Charlottesville; as well as extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor William Cole officiating. Burial to follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in Bertha’s memory to her church, Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 68 Benz Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980, or the Augusta Health Foundation, Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 100, Fishersville, VA 22939.
