Neil Edward Burke

Neil Edward Burke (82) of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024. Born September 30, 1942 in Morgantown, WV, Neil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Neil was a very hard worker! He had 30 years of service with Dominion Power and when he and Beverly found out they were having twins; he added a 25 year part-time career with Haynes Furniture. After retirement, he worked part-time with the Virginia Beach Sheriff Department as a security screener. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly, of 56 years, his children Deborah McGowan (Steve) and Dawn Burke (Amy), two granddaughters, Hannah and Ava, and his two sisters, Jackie Jarboe (Vince) and Carol Burke and many nieces and nephews who all brought him so much joy and comfort. Neil's kind heart, generosity and his quiet nature will be missed by all who knew him. Neil was a Senior DeMolay from Norview DeMolay Chapter, a former member of the Davis Corner Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, a member of the Southside Lions Club, a regular Red Cross donor and a longtime Washington Redskins fan. The next time you watch Blue Bloods, Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy, just know that Neil will be watching with you. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross or the Southside Lions Club in his memory. A private graveside service will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
