Mary Nye Dougherty

Mary Nye Dougherty, age 95, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022. Mrs. Dougherty was born April 30, 1927 in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Virginia Beach in 1956. She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon Nye and Virginia Herbert Nye and her husband of fifty-nine years, Lawrence J. Dougherty and a brother Vernon B. Nye. Mrs. Dougherty devoted her life to her extended family and friends. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and will be missed by all that knew her. Survivors include two nephews, Hunter Nye and his wife Beth and their children Erin Nye and Hunter Nye, Richard Nye and his wife Rosemary and their child Casey Nye. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
