James Richard Allen

Chesapeake - James Richard Allen, 83, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 20, 2013. He was born on June 7, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Allen proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard and retired after 22 years. He then began a career working for the City of Norfolk in the electronics department. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nellie Allen; son, Terrance Allen and his wife Stella; and grandchildren, Brittany and Tyler Allen. The family will recieve friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Fri. Dec 27, 2013 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. A celebration of Mr. Allen’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Sat. Dec. 28, 2013 at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2201 Wingfield Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23324, celebrated by the Rev. Shawn Singleton.
