IN THE CARE OF
Smith & Williams Funeral Home/Kempsville
George H. Soule, 97, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023.
Mr. Soule was born in Wells, Maine on November 29, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents Merton L. Soule and Freda Mae Soule, brother Merton L. Soule, grandson James A. Fink and his wife Mildred Soule.
Mr. Soule was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner. He joined the Navy at the young age of 17 and proudly served his country. He was truly an example of the "Greatest Generation." He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was also an accomplished Barber. He was a member of the VFW, Norfolk, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his veteran friends. For many years he volunteered at Virginia Beach General Hospital always going that extra mile to help nurses, doctors and patients. His upbeat personality and positive outlook were infectious.
Those who knew and loved him referred to him as Dad, Grandpa, Peepa, Pops, neighbor, or simply George. He knew no stranger, was fiercely independent and always up for a good meal with family. He greeted you with a hand shake, a hug or a "Hi dear" and possible kiss on the cheek. He loved a good laugh, a quick visit and a colorful story. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Survivors include three daughters, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many additional family and friends.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be celebrated on Wed. December 13th at 3 PM at the Albert G. Horton Jr., Veteran Memorial Cemetery 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
