Earle B. Woodberry passed away peacefully into the glory of our Lord on July 23, 2024 in Chesapeake, Virginia at the age of 95. Earle was preceded In death by his beloved wife of 58 years Norma, his parents Earle J. and Ada P. Woodberry and older sister Kay Larson. He is survived by his children: Laura (Anthony), Jennifer (Jim) and Tim (Shannon); grandchildren Ben, Zack (Kaylee), Jonathan (Christina), Sam, Addie and Kennedy; brothers Fred and Dudley (Roberta) and sister Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earle’s family was raised in mainland China where his parents served as Presbyterian missionaries. He graduated from New York University with an English degree and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy where he served as a pilot and later a communications officer. In his retirement, Earle enjoyed working as a truck driver for the St. Joe Company and Operation Blessing.
Earle was a long-time member and elder of Kempsville Presbyterian Church. He was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and loved serving him at KPC and in the community. The family is planning to hold a memorial service in Virginia Beach later this summer.
