Betty Jane Oyler

Chesapeake - Betty Jane Oyler, 91, passed away May 29, 2016. She was born on Dec. 9, 1924 in Barberton, OH. It was during high school that she met the love of her life, Virgil Oyler, who she then married. The couple moved around with Virgil’s career, until retirement took them back to Barberton, where they stayed for 20 years. Betty loved flowers and birds, but particularly enjoyed hummingbirds. She was very artistic and enjoyed creating stained glass, oil painting, sewing, and knitting. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her son, Bruce A. Oyler and sister, Marilyn Seifert. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 71 years, Virgil Allen Oyler; children, Sandra L. Copeland and husband Tilson, David C. Oyler and wife Karla, and Kevin M. Oyler and wife Heather; daughter-in-law, Debbie Oyler; sister, Nancy Terrill and husband Harry; brother, Gary Smith and wife Penny; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the funeral home.
