Nancy Kay Johnson, 68, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Union Hospital surrounded by her family and close friends. She was born on March 19, 1950, in Terre Haute to John Allen Bailey, Sr. and Joyce Mae (Reel) Bailey. She married Don Johnson on June 12, 1971.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Don Johnson of Terre Haute; mother, Joyce Bailey of Terre Haute; daughter, Andrea Johnson of Terre Haute; grandson, Trenton Shook of Terre Haute; siblings, John Bailey, Jr. and wife Sherry of Broken Arrow, OK, Annie Whitman of Terre Haute, and Douglas Bailey and wife Mitzi of Clinton; special nephew, Paul Cornwell and wife Lori of Fishers; brothers-in law, Larry Johnson and wife Cheryl of San Antonio, Keith Johnson; sister-in-law, Patty Martin and husband Scott of Saukville, WI; five nieces and nephews, ten great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives, She is also survived by her life-long friend, Diane Smith and husband Gaylon. She was preceded in death by her father.
Nancy was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church. In her younger days, she worked at the Grand Theater and the East Side Drive-In. She and Don moved to Florida in 1985. Eventually they returned to Terre Haute. Nancy was a manager of McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Rally’s. She also worked as a baker at Westminster Village. Nancy was a member of the Homemakers Club for Purdue University Extension office.
Nancy and Don loved to travel together. Whether they were in the United States or a foreign island, Nancy was always up for an adventure with Don by her side. She will forever be remembered by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, at the church. In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, cremation will take place and she will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
