Gladys Marie Nichols

Gladys Marie Nichols, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Cannon Inn. She was born on August 11, 1928, in Vermillion, IL to Perry Oliver and Ruby Esther (Lee) Rhoden. She married James Nichols on May 10, 1947.
Gladys is survived by her children, Tim Nichols and wife Stephenna of Zionsville, Pamela Nichols of Terre Haute, six grandchildren: Dylan, Devon, Tierney, Clint, Travis, and Brooke; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, James Nichols; sister, Ruth Albin; and brother, Ronald Rhoden.
Gladys retired after 20 years of teaching for the Vigo County School Corporation. Gladys and her sister, Ruth, owned and operated a beauty shop for over 20 years together. She was a long time member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Gladys enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers, and mushroom hunting. She also liked to crochet. Most of all, Gladys cherished the time she spent with her family. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 12 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. David Rockhill officiating.
