Flora Mary Roy

Flora Mary Roy, of Clinton, died peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Union Hospital at the age of 85. Flora was born on October 24, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Attilia (Petre) Gianneschi. On November 26, 1971, Flora was united in marriage to her loving husband and her dearest buddy, David Roy, who survives. She worked for several years at Eli Lilly and was a devoted member of the First Christian Church of Clinton. At church, Flora enjoyed belonging to the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Outside of church, she enjoyed being active with the Lioness Club of Clinton. She was also a proud member of the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority of Clinton. In addition to her loving husband of nearly forty years, David, Flora is also survived by her loving children, Charles “Chuck” and wife Linda Purcell of Terre Haute and Cheryll and husband Bill Mitchell, Jr. of Brazil. Her memory will live on for generations to come in the hearts of her grandchildren, Michael Spell and fiancé Chrissy, Cheri and husband Curt Haase, Heather and husband Brian Hicks, Joshua Purcell, Ashley Purcell, Trevor and wife Amy Purcell and Mack Mitchell. She also leaves behind her dog, Buddy and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Flora was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Guido Gianneschi and sister, Eva Varda. She will forever be remembered as the matriarch of the family, a strong, kind and generous woman, who will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 2 p.m. until the time of Flora’s Memorial Service at 4 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Clinton, 649 Blackman, Clinton, IN 47842.
