Roger Wayne Sweet

Roger Wayne Sweet, 72, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Wednesday August 3, 2022 at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sweet was born on May 28, 1950 in Augusta County, and was a son of the late Roy Preston and Ruby Lee (Chandler) Sweet. Roger owned and operated Sweet Trucking, Inc., for more than 25 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic prior to owning his own company. Mr. Sweet was an avid fan of racing. He enjoyed working on his 1955 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery and attending antique car shows. He was very talented working with his hands and could fix anything. He loved gardening and tending to his yard.
Roger is survived by his longtime significant other, Gaye Stinnett Balsley of Stuarts Draft; his children, Stuart Sweet of Waynesboro, Eric Sweet and wife Diana of Kerrs Creek, Wendy Campbell and husband Danny of Nelson County, Justin Sweet of Waynesboro, John Morgan of West Virginia; one brother, Daniel Sweet and wife Cynthia of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; many special friends; and his beloved Pomeranian Willie Wayne.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sweet was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Preston Sweet Jr., and Stephen Sweet.
All services will be held at a later date. His body was cremated.
