Lee Campbell

Lee Roy Campbell, 80, of Raphine passed away early Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Avante of Waynesboro surrounded by his loving family. Born February 12, 1931 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Maggie Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church. During his lifetime he was a self-employed logger and later worked construction. He enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors, logging and wood cutting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Campbell; grandsons, Jason Campbell and Jeremy Campbell; brothers, James, John, Alfred, Jessey, Junior and Wilson Campbell; sisters, Annie, Mary and Dollie Campbell. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Martha M. Campbell; children, Herbert W. Campbell and wife Sheila of Stuarts Draft, Janet Campbell of Raphine and Blain W. Campbell, Sr. and wife Freda of Raphine; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, George Campbell of Newport, Chap Campbell of Roanoke, William “Bill” Campbell of Fairfield and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Campbell of Fishersville. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, with Pastor Dennis Bradley and Fred Salmon officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Herbert Campbell, Blain W. Campbell, Sr., Danny Campbell, Blain W. Campbell, Jr., Calvin Campbell, Randall Campbell, Jerry Harris, Jr., and Daniel W. Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be his daughter and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the funeral home.
