Ada Catherine (Harris) Brown, 92, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehab Center in Staunton.
She was born on October 6, 1930 in Augusta County a daughter of the late Thomas Wheeler and Berta May (Nuckols) Harris.
Ada retired as a school bus driver from the Augusta County Public School System and was a member of Greenmont Fellowship Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Brown, Sr.; a son, Fred T. Brown, Jr.; granddaughter, Jill Fairbanks; siblings, Thomas Wayne Harris, Juanita Lowery, Pauline Altizer, Hannah Lowery, Elizabeth Small, Barbara Lipscomb, Florence Marcus and Diane Fauber.
Survivors include her two daughters, Connie Grant and husband Curtis, Freda VanFossen and husband Ronnie; grandchildren, Sherry Mason, Melissa Grant, Brandon Grant, Kelly Cruz, Erin Daly; great grandchildren, Sara Fairbanks, Colin Fairbanks, Madison Grant; great-great grandchildren, Charlotte Fairbanks and Carter Fairbanks.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Seth Hankee officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmont Fellowship Church Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Area Food Bank or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
