Obituary of Veronica Anne De Gray
Veronica A. De Gray, 86, of Deerfield VA, passed away on September 30, 2024 from a long time illness. She passed peacefully in her sleep. Veronica was being cared for by her daughter Brenda and the family of her late son Keith De Gray Sr who recently passed on August 8, 2024. The family was caring for Veronica, honoring Keith’s last wishes. Veronica was born in East Hartford CT to Rene & Marie Rivard on April 13,1938. She married Clyde P. De Gray SR on October 13,1956 in Hartford Ct. Veronica worked several jobs during her lifetime, her favorite was when she worked with her husband Clyde at their family business Franklin Optical. Veronica was involved in Boy Scouts, Bowling, as part of the GS WBA and LFCBA. Veronica received many awards and titles, and was inducted into the Hall of fame and traveled the country for the nationals. Veronica loved Fashion, design, and decorating. She would decorate and redecorate both the house and optical shop many times throughout the year especially around any holidays. Veronica earned the title of certified fashion consultant for Gloria Vanderbilt. She also enjoyed arts & crafts and dancing (at one point in her young life, she danced on stage). Veronica was the last surviving sibling in her family, and is preceded by her husband, Clyde and one of her sons, Keith Sr. Veronica is survived by five of her children, Clyde III & Roberta De Gray, Brenda De Gray, Kevin Sr & Donna De Gray, Sharon & Paul Wolf, and Joel Sr & Lori De Gray. Veronica is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Amber & Dan Saffo, Clyde De Gray Jr, Griffin De Gray, Kevin Jr & Krystal De Gray, Phylicia & Robert Ravenelle, Kendra & Dallas Huber, Kassie De Gray & Jordan Anderson, Keith De Gray Jr, Kristopher & Chloe De Gray, Preston Wolf, Travis & Ashley Wolf, Joel De Gray Jr, and Megan De Gray; and 15 great-grandchildren. Following cremation, a visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 W. Frederick St., Staunton. A memorial service will be held in Connecticut with the date and time to be announced at a future time. Arrangements entrusted to the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
