Oilides Vito Rodrigues (age 50) of Falls Church, VA passed away from this life on January 5, 2024. He was born in Norwich, CT on November 29, 1973, to Rosemary Carl Rodrigues Rivera and James Joseph Rodrigues. He was a graduate of Boston University where he received a degree in International Relations. He obtained a master's degree in software engineering from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. He was a long-time resident of Mobile, AL and Falls Church, VA. He was a software engineer.
During his youth in Mobile, AL, Oilides played violin in the school orchestras for six years starting in fourth grade. He played tennis for Davidson High School. He enjoyed gymnastics, fitness, calisthenics, and participating in local runs. He was always a student. As an adult, his hobbies include reading and studying History, Literature, Philosophy, Religion, various cultures and languages. He loved traveling. Oilides was always interested in people and learning new things. One would describe him as a Renaissance Man. Oilides also had a very generous heart.
Preceding him in death were his father, James Rodrigues; grandparents, Annie Mae Mack and Willie Hunter; grandmother Maria de Jesus Victo Rodrigues and grandfather Belmiro Martin Rodrigues; great grandparents, Mary (Joseph) Carl and Richard Hunter; aunts, Flora Lee Mack and Jackie Smith; uncle, Demetrius Gray.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Carl Rodrigues Rivera of Mobile, AL, brother, Maurice (Karen) Reed of Wallkill, NY; sister, Jaymie (Gregory) Clack, niece, Jayda Clack, nephews, Cason and Caleb Clack all of Cypress, TX; devoted aunt/godmother, Sharon A. Carl of Indianapolis Indiana; aunts, Patricia Pearman and Debbie Jones; uncle, Rocky Hunter, all of Illinois; great aunt, Mary Louise Hunter of Theodore, AL; his best friend, Mark Luersen of Woodbridge VA; his Rodrigues family and many other devoted family and friends.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 am, St. Mary’s Cemetery, located at 815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich CT 06360, (860)-887-1019.
Oilides will always remain in our hearts. In memory of Oilides, you may donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your local Catholic Social Services.
