Mr. Wilber Bertie Byer Jr.
October 29, 1940 – July 18, 2024

Wilber Bertie Byer Jr. was born to Wilber Bertie Byer Sr. and Mary Wade Byer on October 29,1940 in Salem, VA. Wilber passed away on July 18, 2024 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital due to complications from cancer and heart failure.
Wilber is survived by his loving wife Linda, two sons Timothy & Christopher, daughter-in-law Lisa, and his three sisters; Geraldine Cleary, Carolyn Zimmerman, and Doris Prillaman (Gerald).
Wilber was loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered as a kind man, quick with a joke, who laughed often and easily. Wilber’s generosity to his family, friends and neighbors will be remembered and cherished.
Wilber and Linda, were married 56 years, shared a blessed life and were best friends and true companions.
Wilber’s sons remember him fondly as a good father; a loving and kind man was who was always there. Will instilled a sense of duty and honor in his boys and raised them to be the good men they are today. He will hold a special place in the hearts of his daughter-in-law and nieces who love him dearly.
Wilber is now at rest and sharing snacks with his beloved dog of 18 years, Ginger.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A visitation will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Wednesday July 24th from 5pm to 7pm. A graveside service will be held at the mausoleum at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 25th at 11am.
In lieu of flowers as it was Wilber’s wish that any memorial wishes be made as a donation to Troutville Baptist Church, PO Box 309, Troutville, VA 24175.
