Shirley Stinson Moyer

Shirley Stinson Moyer, age 89, of Powhatan, Virginia departed this life peacefully for her Heavenly home on August 19, 2022.
She was born on September 16, 1932 to Irving and Sadie Stinson in Richmond, Virginia. Shirley graduated from John Marshall High School in 1949 and shortly thereafter worked as a secretary to the VP of Albemarle Paper Manufacturing Company .
Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She served the Lord as a lifetime member of Calvary United Methodist Church through being active in the youth group and choir. She had a great love for children and taught Sunday School to preschoolers for almost 50 years.
Shirley loved music, dancing, the beach, cruises, sunsets, and gardening. She had a contagious laugh and smile. Shirley was known for her enthusiasm and positive outlook on life as well as her boundless energy. She was a gracious host to her many dear friends and family at her home in Varina and later when she moved to the farm in Powhatan County.
Shirley is survived by her faithful husband of 66 years, Eugene B. Moyer; son, Kevin F. Moyer (Kim); daughter, Tracey M. Brandon; and four grandchildren, Travis, Taylor, Tanner, and Trent. They were the sunshine in her life. She is also survived by her loving sister and lifetime partner in faith and fun, Patricia S. Smith of Hampton, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who were touched by her legacy of kindness and laughter.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 29 at Calvary United Methodist Church,1637 Williamsburg Rd., Richmond, VA 23231 at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will precede the service. Interment will follow in Genito Presbyterian Church cemetery, Powhatan.
The family would like to thank NAYAR hospice for their support and genuine care over the past several months. Also, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff and caregivers during her final days at BonSecours Community Hospice House.
