October 15, 1931 – February 16, 2022
Born October 15, 1931, in Patterson, Georgia to Joseph C. and Maysie Thompson, “Myrt” was one of 10 children. She worked hard all her life, including more than 20 years as a sales associate for Saxon Shoes in Richmond, VA. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Roy Paul Ziegengeist, Sr., "Mr. Z" as well as her two sisters, Pat Carter and Frances Brown.
She is also survived by her two children, Cindy Z. Chewning (and her husband, David) and Roy Paul Ziegengeist, Jr. (and his wife, Debra). Last but not least, Myrt leaves behind a legacy as a loving matriarch to 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as “Kee.”
Myrt’s family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thanks to the hospice nurses and caregivers from Heartland Hospice and Care Advantage for supporting Myrt in her final days and making her passing more comfortable. A memorial service will take place on Friday, February 25 at 4:00 pm at the Woody Funeral Home Parham, 1771 N Parham road, Henrico Va 23229.
