John Haswell Clarke

John H. Clarke, 98, passed away on October 4, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Olena Clarke. John was a Veteran of the US Army, and a proud Mason. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States, in his RV, with his lovely wife, Helen and playing golf with his sons at the Richmond Airport Club. Johns’ love for being a pilot encouraged him to become the Founder and CEO of Areo Industries. He built a strong company that he could be proud of, and happily, in his retirement, passed it on to the next generation. Because of his exemplary career, in 1984, he was inducted into the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame. His legacy will forever live on. John leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, of 70 years, Helen J. Clarke; sons, Jon and his wife, Linda, Robert and his wife, Ann; daughter, Shirley Clarke; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Jennifer, Michael, Robbie and Lisa; three great-grandchildren, with a baby boy on the way; along with a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will take place Monday, October 6, 2014, 4-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond VA 23231. Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 11am at Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad, Sandston VA.
