Obituary of Jeanne Marian Kull
Jeanne Marian Kull (b. Langlois), 79, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024. Jeanne was born in Glen Cove, New York on February 26th 1945. In 1972, Jeanne and her late husband Thomas Kull moved to Virginia where they lived for over 45 years. She moved to New Jersey in 2019 to be closer to her grandsons Alexander and Nathaniel. Starting a new career close to age 50, Jeanne worked as a registered nurse at Retreat Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, Virginia from 1993 until her retirement in 2018. While working at the hospital her positions included both staff nurse and charge nurse in the medical/surgical unit, chemo nurse in biotherapy, and program coordinator and resource educator nurse in the infusion center. She received several awards and honors including 2001 Centennial Nurse Awardee, 2007 Frist Humanitarian Award Winner, 2011 Retreat Doctors’ Hospital Pride Award, 2012 Florence Nightingale Nominee, 2013 Frist Humanitarian Award Nominee, ONS Foundation Congress Scholarship, Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification, Oncology Nursing Society National Certification, Certificate of Participation in 2012 & 2013 Evidence Based Nursing Poster Session, Medical-Surgical Nursing National Certification, and Henrico Doctors’ Hospital Clinician IV . Jeanne’s colleagues share that she was an incredible nurse, always giving of herself, providing comfort and education to her patients and their family members. She also had a fabulous rapport with the physicians, and Jeanne was the nurse that would always jump in and help wherever she was needed. She was a mentor to so many nurses as they looked to Jeanne for a sense of calm that can be so hard to find in a busy oncology unit and infusion center. She had a peace about her that always gave not only the patients reassurance, but her coworkers as well. Jeanne had a quiet strength and unwavering compassion that reminded all the nurses why we do what we do. Closer to retirement she worked at IVNA giving flu shots. Jeanne’s legacy will live on in the lessons she taught, the kindness and compassion she showed, and the light that she shared. She will be missed. Jeanne was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Kull; the devoted mother of Kathryn Kull York and her husband Tony York, and Christopher Kull and his wife Paula Silva; the cherished grandmother of Alexander and Nathaniel; the dear sister of Jim Langlois with his wife Katy, Jim’s children Jennifer and Jon, and the late Jack Langlois with his surviving wife Hsin-i; and sister-in-law to Douglas Kull, Kathleen Kull, Kenneth Kull with his late wife Bonnie and their children Tracy and Christian. We will celebrate Jeanne’s beautiful life 10 am Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Woody Funeral Home located at 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, VA. Jeanne will be laid to rest in a private graveside service alongside her husband in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Richmond, VA. The family would appreciate donations made in her memory to The American Red Cross www.redcross.org/donations/ways-to-donate.html.
