Beth was born in Harrington, Delaware to Thomas Fenton Carre and Marie Costa Carre on December 25, 1922. She was the youngest of 7 children. She spent her childhood in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and later in Washington DC. After graduating from high school, she worked for Southern Bell as a telephone operator for 17 years. After raising her family, she resumed her career with Bell South and retired in 1988 in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was involved with serving in various ministries at Lake Osborn Presbyterian Church for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, bible study, politics, beading, and making greeting cards. Her love of Jesus and her deep, profound faith sustained her through all of the trials and triumphs in her life. Beth was preceded in death by her first husband of 22 years, Ivan Hall (November 1967). She was also preceded by her father, Tom, and her mother, Marie; sisters Eleanor (Carroll) Linkins and Marie (Bill) Means; her brother, Thomas (Peggy) Carre. Beth is survived by her husband of 24 years, Herman W. Heckel of Pittsburgh, PA. Other survivors include her son, William (Mary) Hall; two daughters, Barbara (Alton) Manning and Nancy E. Hall; her step-children, Bob (Mandy) Heckel, Bill (Sandy) Heckel, Linda (Mike) Connolly, Gary (Lauren) Heckel and Keith (Rita) Heckel; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sterling House in Leesburg, Florida; Arbor Village in Wildwood, Hospice House in The Villages, Florida; and Village View Community Church in Summerfield, Florida; and to our many friends and relatives. Beth’s favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23. Her shepherd kept her and walked with her all of the days of her life, including the shadow of the valley of death. Goodness and Mercy followed her and she is now dwelling in the House of the Lord Forever! Praise The Lord! Condolences may be left at woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.
