Dorothy Jean Hawks Martin

Dorothy Jean Hawks Martin, 88, of Richmond, VA, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 19th at her home surrounded by her family. She served for many years in ministry with her evangelist husband, and then enjoyed a 30-year career as a nurse, ending with many of those years at McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond. She was a long-time member of West End Assembly of God, and a volunteer Manna Chick. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Theodore Martin, for whom she lovingly cared, one sister and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Bill Martin (Linda), her daughter, Terry Wilkins (Earl), three sisters, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was known for her deep love of her family, her open heart and hospitality towards everyone, her independence and fighting spirit, and her faithfulness to her God. She will be remembered as "Nanny" to everyone who knew her. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24,. A service will be held 11am Wednesday 25th at West End Assembly of God, 401 N.
