IN THE CARE OF
Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory
MILLS, Jr., Bernard C., 76, of Sandston, passed away quickly and without fanfare on Monday, July 25th, at home. He was first and foremost a beloved father to his 4 children. He ran a successful electrical contracting business for over 40 years; and in recent years, alongside his son, Bernie. Our dad said what he meant and meant what he said. He was loyal, true, and enjoyed a good "belly" laugh. It cannot go unmentioned that his "second family" resided at Stuart's restaurant. There, he ate breakfast and lunch almost every day for over 50 years. He brought words of wisdom and serious debate skills at almost every meal. He was a founding member at "The Round Table" and most likely paid for the building with his thousands of meals there. On any given weekday he could be found there, delivering his opinion to whomever may have been within earshot. He loved his family, NASCAR, golf, being bossy and making jokes. He was a loyal father, grandfather and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne, brother, Louis and his mother, Doris. He leaves behind his longtime companion, Dolores Barlow, his 4 children, Karen Shupe (Ronnie), Kathi Marshall (Carroll), Bernie Mills, and Tara Underwood (Jeff). He also leaves behind 9 amazing grandchildren, Sam, Travis and Macy Shupe; Miranda, Gray and Cole Marshall; Josh Mills; Victoria and Nicholas Underwood. Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home Laburnum on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm. Services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home Laburnum on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 1 pm with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park.
