Obituary of David F. Hadaway
David F. Hadaway, 85, of Ossian, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 25, 2022. Born on May 28, 1937 in Detroit Michigan and later adopted by the late Milton and Martha (Empey) Hadaway. He was an honored, loved, and respected husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Although he has been welcomed through the gates of Heaven, he will be greatly missed on Earth. Dave loved the adventure of being on the open road whether it be on either 18 wheels or 2 (and later 3). He safely voyaged the country he loved by driving semi for over 57 years. He also loved his Harleys and enjoyed many trips with his family and friends over the years. Another one of his favorite pastimes included sitting on the back porch with his wife and family watching the birds and appreciating his surroundings. He attended Roanoke Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the Korean War from 1954–1957. Above all, he was a protector and a provider for the family he loved dearly and his beloved wife, Katharine, of over 65 years. Dave is survived by his wife, Katharine Hadaway; 9 children, Ronald Hadaway, Larry (Lori) Hadaway, James Hadaway, Peggy (Bill) Ellis, Dennis Hadaway, Debra (Bob) Broom, Timothy Hadaway, Tammie (Scott) Douglas, and Douglas (Julie) Hadaway; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Danny Fitchett, Ron Fitchett, June Schaffer; and sister-in-law, Delores Mitchell. He was also preceded in passing by his brothers, Robert Mitchell, and Tom Hadaway; sister, Mary Fitchett; half-brothers, Larry Fitchett and Dale Fitchett; and grandson, Ronnie Bodenheimer. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, Indiana 46777 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00-4:00pm & 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial to follow the service at Prospect Cemetery, 340 W 900N, Uniondale, Indiana 46791. Contributions in Dave's memory may be made to Roanoke Baptist Church.
