Vivian E. Elks

Vivian E Elks, age 93, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Vivian was born in Washington, North Carolina to the late Giles and Catherine Emery. She was predeceased by her younger brothers Giles (Buddy) and Robert (Bobby). Vivian worked the majority of her career in the banking industry, notably Bank of America, as an account clerk. When she was not working, she loved spending time with family and enjoyed shopping, doing crafts, traveling, growing house plants and consuming sweets. One of her crafts was making angels, which she enthusiastically wore often and shared with others. She became known as the angel lady. Vivian was a previous member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church, for over fifty years, and a current member of Kempsville Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Ray Elks; daughters: Sondra (Harvey Lamb) Phyllis (Jules Nix) and Rose (Jeff Farnham); four grandchildren: Marsha (Robert Grigg), Gloria (Bobby Hooker), Aaron Nix (Elisabeth), Katie (PJ Swanson); and eight great grandchildren: Lily Grigg and Lucas Grigg (by Marsha), Shawn Old, Andrew Old and Allyson Hooker (by Gloria), and Austin Nix, Noah Nix and Paige Nix (by Aaron). She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all. A visitation for Vivian will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:30 PM. Immediately following the service, Vivian will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502.
