Shirley E. Mosley
November 3, 1939 – August 3, 2010

On Tuesday, August 3, 2010 @ 4:23 p.m. our mother, mother in love, grandmother, grandmother in love, great grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt, cousin and dear friend, Shirley E. Jones Mosley transitioned from this life to life eternal.
Shirley was born on November 3, 1939 to the late Mary Lee and Jerry Jones. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined the New St. John’s African Methodist Episcopal Church. She served as the President of the Clara R. Davis, Nurses’ Unit.
Shirley was employed by the Virginia Beach Social Services Department, and after 30 years of service retired.” Some of her many affiliations included: Marshall and Past Matron of St. Alethia #83, Marshall of the Year Award 2005, Chairperson-St. Alethia #83 Auditing Committee, Past Ritualistic Chairperson District Council #34, Past Grand Deputy Organizer Administrative Deputy Order of the Eastern Star, Past Grand Worthy Matron, Royal Perfection Matron LOCOP, Life Member Phyllis Chapter International Order-FPC, Region 1 Director Phyllis Chapter International Order, President-Leader Council United Order of Tents, Virginia Beach, VA, Treasurer-Royal Degree Chamber #3, Leader-Silver Leaf Tent No. 354, Virginia Beach, VA, Past Queen-Daughter of ISIS Arabia Court #23, Honorary Past Illustrious Commandress Arabia Court #23, Member and Queen of the- International Longshoremen’s-Ladies Auxiliary #37.
She leaves to cherish her most fondest memories: One daughter, Charlotte A. Mosley, and four sons: The Reverend Rufus L. Mosley, Jr., (Exhorter Danita), Jerry Mosley (Barbara), Azarah Mosley and Dion Mosley (Sharon). 10 grandchildren: 8 great grandchildren, two sisters: Lucille Melvin (Raymond) and Alice Cooker(Harry), two sister’s in law: Elnora Willie and Mary Lee Young (Bobby). Three friends who were sisters to her: Erma Ames, Marjorie Holley and Norma Bell, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,and two fur children she so loved : Joseph and Omar (the dogs).
The transition service for Mrs. Shirley Mosley will take place on Monday, August 9, 2010 @ 12:30 p.m. at the St. John’s African Methodist Episcopal Church, 545 E. Bute St. Norfolk, VA with The Reverend E. H. Terrell, Jr. officiating. A motorcade will be leaving Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd,, Norfolk at 11:45 a.m. to proceed to the St. John’s A.M.E. Church
Family will receive friends on Sunday August 8, 2010 from 2-5 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.. The Reverend Rufus L. Mosley Jr. will receive friends at his residence, 1949 John Brown Lane, Virginia Beach, 23464 the days leading up to Sunday.
