Obituary of Jesus Perez Soriano
Jesus Perez Soriano, 80, passed away in Norfolk, Saturday morning December 23, 2023. Jess was born in the town of Calasiao, in the province of Pangasinan, Philippines to the late Enrique and Mamerta Soriano. He married his wife Flora and then joined the United States Navy. He retired after serving 21 years, traveling all over the world and meeting great Navy buddies as friends for life. He was an avid bowler and won several trophies for his perfect score. He was a family man, ready to take the family on car trips, pilgrimages and other adventures. His most desired excursion was going to Bally's Casino. He was a karaoke singer, who sang Elvis Presley songs. He was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Pangasinan Association of Virginia. Because he lived his life fullest and content, wise and tolerant, he was also beloved and respected; memories with him are abundant. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Flora; daughter, Florence Reynolds and her husband, Keith; son, Reginald Soriano; six siblings: Lynn, Florie, Rick, Susan, Annie, and Noel; and other significant family and friends. A visitation will be from 5-8pm, Monday, January 8, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Norfolk, and it will include the Wake at 6pm, followed by light refreshments provided by the family. The Funeral Mass will be 10am, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Norfolk. After the service, the entombment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral reception will continue at the Parish Hall, St. Pius X, where folks can have a meal with the family.
