Clarence H Bates

NORFOLK- Clarence H. (Bud) Bates, Jr. Clarence Henry Bates Jr. passed away June 6, 2009. He retired after 25 years in the U.S. Navy as Senior Chief. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and relaxing on his porch, enjoying his view of the bay. He was also a great chef. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Florence A. Bates; his daughter, Florence Glaubke and her husband Freddy; and his son Clarence H. Bates III; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and his canine companion, Binky. A service will be held Thursday June 11, at 1:00 PM, with Reverend Ernest Trueblood officiating in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
