Jack Burgess, Sr., 83, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Deaconess Gateway. He was born September 23, 1927, in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Lewis and Gertrude Burgess,
Jack was a 1945 graduate of Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from the University of Bridgeport.
He served in the US Army Airborne during the Japanese Occupation following WWII.
Jack was employed with IBM as an Industrial Engineer for over 25 years in Kingston, NY, Poughkeepsie, NY and Boca Raton, FL. After retirement he and his wife, Jean moved to Evansville.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #44 and Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean (Kelly) Burgess; son, Jack L. Burgess, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Patty Beisel (Larry) of Newburgh, IN; grandson, David Beisel; and granddaughter, Kelly Beisel.
Friends may visit Friday, March 18, 2011, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Alexander Newburgh
Chapel. Services will follow at 6:30 PM, officiated by the Rev. David Straw. Graveside Services will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in Newtown, CT at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
