Robert R. McCutcheon
December 28, 1947 – February 4, 2023

Robert R. McCutcheon, age 75, of Leavenworth, Indiana passed on February 4, 2023. Robert was born on December 28, 1947, to the late Carl and Frances (Strahl) McCutcheon. He attended New Albany High school and later served his country in the United States Navy. He attended DeAnza College and Indiana University as well as became a student at the Louisville Baptist Seminary and Cincinnati Christian Seminary before becoming a minister. Robert later married the love of his life, Jeanne (Austin) McCutcheon, and together they started their family.
Robert was a faithful minister of the Otisco Community Church until his retirement as well as serving in many other churches. He also worked as a bus driver for the University of Louisville, and Cave Country Canoes. Robert had many hobbies including leather crafting, stained glass work, and knife collecting. He enjoyed gospel singing and operating the Grist Mill and was a historian at the Spring Mill State Park.
Robert was known for his big personality and big heart. He was always full of “dad jokes” and always made everyone laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Along with his parents, Robert is preceded in death by four siblings, Carl McCutcheon, Anna Mae Emmons, Patty Hughes, and Lorena Hurst.
Robert leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Jeanne McCutcheon, two children, Matthew Robert McCutcheon (Michelle), and Christina Evelyn McCutcheon; two grandchildren, Ashley Hebner, and Caroline Ellis; and one great-grandchild, Sutton Marie Ellis; and last but not least his loyal Jack Russell terrier, “Little Guy”.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 10-2 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 2 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Following the funeral service, Robert will be laid to rest in Shaffer Ridge Church Cemetery in Milltown, Indiana where he gave his first sermon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberts’s memory may be made to the Leavenworth Volunteer Fire Department, Po Box 242, Leavenworth, Indiana, 47137.
