Robert R. “Bob” Ivey, 83, of Georgetown, Indiana passed away on February 19, 2023. Bob was born in Evarts, Kentucky on September 8, 1939, to the late Charles and Ora (Ball) Ivey. After graduating from New Albany High School in 1957, he served in the United States Army in Germany as a tank mechanic. Bob went on to work as a mechanical supervisor at the Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville, KY. After his retirement, Bob embarked on his second career as the manager of the “old” Point Hardware store in Floyds Knobs, Indiana where he was known for always lending a hand and giving advice to his customers. Bob was an avid gardener and enjoyed working and planting in his garden as well as fishing in his spare time. Bob was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Bob was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. In 1958, he married the love of his life, the late Ruth A. Ivey, who passed on January 26, 2023. Bob is also preceded in death by a grandson, Robert “Jamie” Windler; and a sister, Linda Ivey. Bob is survived by his 2 daughters, Linda Gainous (Ron), and LeAnn Swanson (Eric); 5 grandchildren, Ryan Andres (Chana), Jared Windler (Erin), Ashley Andres, Tyler Andres (Maranda), and Rachel Gainous (Jake); and three great-grandchildren, Autumn, Peyton, and Owen Andres; and 2 brothers, Charles “Charley” Ivey Jr. (Patty), and Herb Ivey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 4-8 PM and on Thursday, February 2023, from 9-11 AM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Bob will be laid to rest next to his late wife in St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery, 3011 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana, 47119.
