RICHARD P. SMITH, 90, died Monday, April 24, 2017. He was born August 22, 1926 in Middletown, New York to the late William and Lelah (Percival) Smith. Richard was an Army veteran of World War II and served as a translator during the Nuremburg trials. He retired from the University of Louisville after 29 years in Pharmacology in the Medical School and as Professor in the Psychology Department. Richard was an avid tennis player, and loved to garden and read. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sara (Winges) Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Jerry Britton; and grandson, Thomas Richard Britton.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany with burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon, Indiana.
