Martin "Marty" Patrick McGorty

Martin "Marty" Patrick McGorty, age 83, of New Albany, Indiana formerly of New Hyde Park, New York passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023. Marty was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 21, 1939, to the late Francis and Loretta Smith McGorty. He was a retired NYPD Police Officer and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was an avid golf fan and loved western movies.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille McGorty; and three brothers, Francis McGorty, Donald McGorty and Robert McGorty.
Marty is survived by five children, Maryann (Dan) Van Minnen, Patricia (Joe) Burkland, Theresa (Gary) Wisniewski, Michael (Laura) McGorty and Eileen (Eric) Cox; grandchildren, Ann Marie, Danielle (Paul), Brianna, Gina, Joseph (Karlye), Nicholas (Haley), James (Gina), Jaclyn, Rachel, Cheyenne, Shaylan, Kaitlyn, Robert, Casandra and Amanda; he was also the great grandfather to Colin, Noah, Lucille, Marie, CJ, Maleah and Alexander. He is also survived by a brother, Richard (Marge) McGorty and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Marty will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Funeral mass will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
