Kay Thompson

Kay Thompson, age 85, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Kay was born in New Albany, Indiana to the late Edgar and Gladys Best. She was a retired school bus driver with over 40 year of service to the New Albany Floyd County School System. Her passion was raising and showing her American Saddlebred Horses and taking care of her farm. She was a horsewoman from childhood, from driving her parents horses in their logging operation to showing her saddlebreds in her later years. Kay was a member of Clarksville Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Rondal Odell Thompson; and a grandson, Evan Lee Allen. Kay is survived by three children, Rondal (Sharon) Thompson Jr., Lyndell (Paula) Thompson and Martha Allen; grandchildren, Stephen Thompson, Linda (Rob) Kelly and Jennifer (Noah) Kepley; a brother, James (Thelma) Best; and a nephew, Andy Best Visitation for Kay will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Funeral service will be Monday, January 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Kraft Funeral Service with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
