Funeral services with full military honors for Jay Edgar Hoover, 65, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Charlestown Road Chapel of Kraft Funeral Service, with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.
He was born in Flint, Mich., on Jan. 6, 1948 to Walter and Hanah (Gill) Hoover. He graduated from Clarksville High School where he held several cross country records, served as a Marine in the Vietnam War, retired from Ford Motor Company LAP and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1181 in Louisville.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Hoover; step-daughters, Kelly Briles and her husband, Ray, and Amy Gemme and her husband, Jamie, all of Indiana; siblings, Nina Burkhardt, of Kentucky, Charlotte Finkbiner, Edith Hoover and Terry Hoover, all of Michigan; and grandchildren, Alex, Colin and Cameron.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
