James S. "Jim" Burden Sr.

James S. “Jim” Burden, Sr., 92 years of age died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in New Albany, Indiana. He was born May 30, 1922 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Word and Effie Mae Burden. Jim was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and the former owner and operator of the old Burden’s Marathon in Galena. He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Albany and William Zeb Longest American Legion Post #42 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Adams Burden. Survivors include his children, James Burden, Jr. (Janet), Denise Goodman (Walt), Mike Burden, Leah Early; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Sunday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.
