Obituary of Barbara Ann Lingar
Barbara Ann Lingar, age 76, entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in New Albany, Indiana. She was born July 15th, 1948, in Sacramento, California to the late Suba Chand Khan and Carmen (Sidhu) Khan. As a child she attended the Spanish Apostolic Church (fluent in Spanish). In 1972 the Light promised of Zechariah 14:7 struck her path and led her to God’s Glory Land. She graduated from Sacramento High School and completed her post-secondary education at Sacramento State University in Social Welfare, serving in many county and city agencies within that field. She married William R. Lingar, a Minister of the Gospel, on March 14, 1975. In 1976, while residing in Sacramento, they welcomed their firstborn Anna. In 1977, they relocated to Mesa, Arizona and welcomed their second child William in 1981. After her husband completed his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in 1984, they moved to Boise, Idaho to work for Hewlett Packard. It was here in 1987 that they welcomed their third child, Michael. From there the family moved to Stuttgart, Germany where they lived for six years while her husband completed a foreign assignment for Hewlett Packard. While living in Germany, Barbara enjoyed joining foreign service wives in annual pottery shopping trips to Poland and learned to speak some German. She and her family traveled extensively around Europe and gained many dear Christian friends. Her family was her pride and joy, and she enjoyed many wonderful adventures with them. She traveled internationally, hiked up mountains, was always up for a shopping trip, and enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren who affectionately called her “Ama”. Above all, she enjoyed quiet time with her Lord and Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. She reflected the life of Christ in all she did, loving unconditionally, showing grace and kindness to all she met. She is survived by her loving husband, William, and their three children and spouses: Anna (Wesley) Elder, William (Rosie) Lingar and Michael (Lily) Lingar. Her beloved grandchildren, Nehemiah Elder and Enoch, Gabriel, Isabella, Benjamin and Mateo Lingar. Her cherished siblings Richard Kahn, Mary Khan, Karen (Rafael) Ramirez, and sister-in law Mary Khan. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Lawrence Khan. Barbara was greatly blessed with many precious aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews … all who knew her as a tender flower of love and simplicity. She was also blessed with numerous Christian friends from around the world. A viewing for Barbara will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Church of the Open Door, 1221 Silver Street, New Albany, IN 47150. A memorial service at the same location will immediately follow at 1:00 PM ET. Her graveside service will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. For just a little season and with the fondest of memories, Barbara will be greatly missed.
