Obituary of Anna Marie (Watkins) Rainbolt
Funeral services for Anna Marie (Watkins) Rainbolt will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00 am, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany Indiana with entombment at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park. Anna Marie passed away on October 27, 2021 at the Villages of Historic Silvercrest in New Albany, Indiana. Anna Marie was born on February 20, 1927 in Grayson County, Kentucky to the late Isiah “ZA” and Dona B (McGrew) Watkins. As a toddler, the family moved to a farm in Galena, Indiana. After living on the farm, her family moved to New Albany, Indiana at the age of 5 where she spent most of her life. Marie graduated from New Albany High School in 1945. She attended New Albany Business College and received a certificate of completion. Marie and Audie were married on August 29, 1946 at Wesley chapel United Methodist Church on west Market Street and remained a member until death. Following school, she worked for Dr. James and Dr. Sam Baxter and at the Sears Credit Department. Marie also spent many years working in Real Estate and the Insurance Business. She started working for the government at the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville and she transferred to the U.S. Department of Defense, working at several different Army Bases, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, Ft. McPherson, Georgia, West Point, New York and Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Marie and Audie retired from Fort Sam Houston in October 1990 and moved back to New Albany to be with their family. Marie believed in volunteering and doing all you can do for your community. Marie was a 75 year Life Member of the Hobart Beach VFW Post 1693 Auxiliary. Over the years she has held all the office of the Auxiliary including the Auxiliary President. She also over time successfully held State appointments. She is a member of the Assembly Club and Past President of the Floyd County Democratic Women’s Club and a life member of the American Legion Post 28. Besides her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her husband, Audie W. Rainbolt, and her 12 Brothers and Sisters, Hattie Snyder, Lena Layman, Everett Watkins, Alene Watkins Gunn, Elbert “Todd” Watkins, Shirley K. Waggoner Endres, Marion Tapley Watkins, Charles “Alex” Watkins, Kenneth “Babs” Watkins, Willard Watkins, Glenial “Eli” Watkins, and Wilbert “Gene” Watkins. She is survived by her son, Dale A. (Claire) Rainbolt, Hampton, GA, 3 Granddaughters, Dana (Steve) Muessle, Lawrenceville, GA, Marci (Philip) Myrick, Georgetown, IN Stephanie Rainbolt, Hampton, GA. 10 Great-Grand Children, Andrew Cassady, John Muessle, Stephen Muessle, Jacob Muessle, Elizabeth Myrick, Tanner Rainbolt, Hunter Rainbolt, Asa Rainbolt, Rebekah Myrick and Gavin Westover. Visitation will be on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Floyd Knobs, IN.
