Obituary of Algene Winifred Busse
The family of Algene Winifred (Cornish) Busse with great sadness announces her passing on July 13, 2022, at Westminster Village Senior living in Clarksville, IN. Algene was a devout Catholic and had a strong faith in God. Born in DEKALB, IL November 16, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Effie Cornish. Algene married her high school sweetheart Donald A. Busse on October 18, 1941. Don shortly after was called to serve in WWII in the South Pacific. He returned home to his “Queenie” after 5 years of service. They raised 5 boys David, Jack, Patrick, Steve, Jim, and one girl Janene. Algene worked for Wurlitzer in Dekalb during the early years. She owned and managed University housing on College Avenue at Northern Illinois University, and after her children were grown worked at JC Penney in Dekalb. She became a grandmother for the first time when her son David and his wife Diane had their children Heather and Peter Busse. Heather (Jeremy) LeCroy later gave her 2 beautiful Great grand babies Julia and Jillian. Among many things, she was a devoted football enthusiast, there wasn’t a game she wouldn’t watch. She enjoyed traveling, boating, and going to their summer place in Lake Mills, WI. Algene loved spending time with family and friends, throwing parties, playing cards, and being part of the bridge club. Algene and Don spent their retirement years in Tarpon Springs, FL. She later relocated to Clarksville, IN, and spent her remaining years at Westminster Village Senior living to be close to her daughter. She is survived by her children David (Diane) Busse of Marietta, GA, Jack Busse of Dekalb, IL., Patrick (Deniece) Busse of Coarsegold, CA., Steve (Mary) Busse of Alameda, CA., Jim(Michelle) Busse of Wentzville, MO., Janene(Carrie Martin) Busse of Jeffersonville, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Heather (Jeremy) Lecroy, Peter Busse, great-grandchildren Julia and Jillian Lecroy, her beloved nieces Jennifer Burian, Katy (Reggie)Jess, and nephew Richard Denhart. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Busse, father Joseph and Mother Effie Cornish, sister Harriett, and brother Kenneth Cornish. The family would like to provide their heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff at Westminster Village, Elder Care for families, and Adaptive Hospice. We would like to sincerely thank you all for your care and compassion in caring for our mom. We appreciate every one of you. Algene requested no service, she will be laid to rest by her husband in Florida. Mom was the heart and soul of our family. To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.
