Obituary of Alan Dale Miles
Alan Dale Miles, 68, went home to his heavenly Father on Saturday, December 21, 2019. The son of Carl and the late Emma Lou (Broeker) Miles, Alan was born October 19, 1951 in Salem, Indiana. Alan was a computer programmer and member of Northside Christian Church in New Albany. He was the President of DaySpring Residents Encounter Christ (REC) and an active member of DaySpring Emmaus, The Great Banquet, and Brothers Reflecting on Scripture “BROS” Men’s Bible Study Group. Alan was recognized in 2016 as a Hope Southern Indiana Giant in the Faith Honoree. Alan was a graduate of New Albany High School, received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and masters from Memphis State University. He was an avid basketball fan of NAHS Bulldogs and IU Hoosiers. Alan loved researching his family genealogy and served as the family historian. He also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and other challenging games and puzzles. Alan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda (White) Miles; daughter, Lisa Russell (Neill); grandson, Miles Russell; father, Carl Miles; sisters, Ruth Fort (Arthur), Brenda Miller, Diane Turner (Jerry), and Connie Jackson (Don); brother and sister in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends and family are invited to attend Visitation at 2 pm ~ 7 pm Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. His Funeral Service will be 10 am Saturday at Northside Christian Church, 4407 Charlestown Road, New Albany with entombment following at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alan’s memory may be made to DaySpring REC, P.O. Box 155, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Kraft Funeral Service is honored to assist the Miles family.
