Sandra Yingling, 82, a quiet and gentle soul, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Born on June 20, 1941, to George and Crystal Smith, and graduating from Muncie Central High School in 1959, Sandra grew up with a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She began her career working in local grocery stores and retired from Ball State University in 2012, marking the end of a successful and fulfilling career. Her quiet strength and tireless work ethic left an indelible mark on the lives she served.
In 1976, Sandra married the love of her life, William (Bill) Yingling. They shared forty beautiful years of marriage, building a life filled with love and unwavering support for one another.
Outside of her professional life, Sandra was passionate about sports and would cheer on her favorite teams with fervor. Her love for cooking was another way she expressed her creativity and affection.
One of her greatest sources of joy was her beloved dog, Molly. Their companionship brought a special light into her life, and their bond was a testament to the kindness and love that Sandra carried in her heart.
Sandra is survived by her sister, Marilyn Parker, and her devoted niece and nephew, Kelli Granger (Scott), and Jackie Long (Cheryl), along with several other nieces and nephews, friends, and family members.
Her loving husband, Bill Yingling; three sisters, Peggy Horneffer, Jo Ann Burton, and Jane Ann Watson; brother, Ronnie Smith; and her parents, George and Crystal Smith, preceded her in death.
A service for Sandra will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Private entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
Friends and family will gather to honor and remember her beautiful life from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
